After breakfast, you'll drive for 60 kms up to Rissani, a historically and culturally vibrant location. Arriving Rissani, you'll be astonished by the Kasbahs and the traditional commercial view inside the town. It is however preferable to visit Rissani in one of the following three days: Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. These days are marked by the souk or the market as they are very important days for good shopping.
You'll stroll inside the traditional souk discovering the local-made goods and art crafts, as well as sheep and everything related to the local life. The souk extends itself for being a day for shopping, but an opportunity for meeting friends and family who come from the nearest as well as furthest villages. You'll likely go to have lunch with a special meal of the region. Madfouna or Local pizza is baked bread stuffed with pieces of sauce, eggs, pieces of steak and other ingredients, served with a cup of mint tea.
After lunch, we'll drive a few miles around the town to discover the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, ancient ruler and the ancestor of the current king. His mausoleum, like the rest of late Sultans of Morocco, is tailored in a Moroccan architecture within a mosque and halls for reading the Quran. After the visit, we'll drive back to Merzouga.
